Every year at the Cleveland International Film Festival there are films that stick with me for a long time. This year, "The Verdict" is one of those films. While this was a great movie, it was for sure the saddest movie I have ever seen. I think I cried through the entire film. There was a point when I thought I might have to leave the theater to get myself together.
The Verdict is about a successful business man named Luc. While stopping for gas one night, his wife is murdered and his frightened daughter is hit by a speeding car. Luc later wakes up from a coma to learn his wife and daughter have been buried. After identifying his wife's killer the justice system fails Luc and the murderer is set free. Luc then takes matters into his own hands and kills the man who murdered his wife. Luc is then put on trial himself.
A very powerful and heart wrenching movie.
